{What's On Your Kindle?} Nicholas Teeguarden on The Copper Scroll
The Copper Scroll follows historian Joshua “Masa” Bennett as he journeys into the heart of the Middle East in an attempt to unlock the secrets hidden within the legendary Copper Scroll. Just as he begins making progress, disturbing warnings and shadowy sightings reveal that other powerful forces are also closing in: Templars, ISIS operatives, and government intelligence groups, each hiding their own motives for uncovering what the scroll may reveal.
Drawn deeper into a world of danger, deception, and spiritual tension, Masa must navigate hostile territory, shifting alliances, and a truth far more explosive than he ever imagined. As past and present violently intersect, he realizes the stakes extend far beyond archaeology, the secrets of the Copper Scroll could alter geopolitical power and shake the foundations of faith itself.
A blend of international suspense, ancient mystery, and truths long buried beneath history, The Copper Scroll delivers a gripping thriller for fans of Joel Rosenberg, Dan Brown, and archaeological adventure stories rooted in real-world intrigue.

Welcome, Nicholas! Your book, The Copper Scroll, sounds absolutely awesome. Can you tell us the story behind that intriguing title?
The title comes from the real Copper Scroll, a unique Dead Sea Scroll inscribed on metal that lists dozens of mysterious treasure locations instead of prayers or prophecy.
My novel imagines what happens when a modern team finally begins to crack those clues and discovers the “treasure” might be far more explosive than gold—artifacts and writings that could shake how people understand Jesus and early Christianity.
Can you tell us a little about your main characters?
Joshua “Masa” Bennett is an American Army veteran and archaeology grad student whose faith and curiosity drag him from Arkansas into a dangerous hunt across the Middle East.
He’s joined by Noa, a sharp Israeli researcher, and Amina, a determined Palestinian journalist; together they chase the Copper Scroll’s trail from Amman to Qumran, Masada, and Capernaum while governments, extremists, and religious powers all try to control—or bury—what they find.
Where is your book set and why did you choose that particular location?
The Copper Scroll is set primarily in Jordan and Israel—Amman, the Jordan Museum, Qumran, Masada, the Dead Sea, and Capernaum—because that’s where the real scroll was found and where its clues most naturally point.
I wanted readers to feel like they were actually walking those deserts, museums, and holy sites alongside the characters, so the setting isn’t just a backdrop; it’s part of the puzzle and part of the spiritual journey.
What part would you say was the most exciting to write about?
The most exciting part has actually been after finishing the book. A couple of months later—just a week or two after someone told me they were tired of seeing modern Templars in fiction—the pope issued a proclamation welcoming the Templars back into the church, complete with men in Templar garb attending.
It was a big “ah‑ha, ha‑ha” moment, because I’d already woven modern Templar threads into The Copper Scroll, and suddenly real‑world headlines were echoing the novel’s ideas in ways I couldn’t have planned.
What’s next for you?
Next up is the release of my new novel, The Boy from the Vines, which is planned for next month. I’m really excited to share that story with readers.
At the same time, I’m about halfway through writing the second book in The Masa Chronicles, continuing Joshua’s journey as he deals with the fallout from The Copper Scroll and stumbles into a new layer of mystery and danger.
